Our hairdressing courses will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills for use in today's ever changing industry. Your specialist skills will be developed by working in a vibrant commercial environment with the support of expert trainers and assessors. This means you will get to grips with real aspects of service due to first-hand experience within the industry.

Level 2 Apprenticeship
The mandatory units for the Level 2 Apprenticeship are:
- Style and Finish hair using a range of techniques to achieve a variety of looks
- Cut hair using a range of techniques to achieve a variety of looks
- Colour and lighten hair using a range of techniques
- Consultation
- Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
Your training adviser will work with you and your employer to select optional units relevant to you. The optional units include:
- Perm and neutralise hair
- Hair relaxing treatments and techniques
- Hair extension services
We will tailor your learning programme to suit your needs, so that everyone's experience is unique. While needs differ, the recommended time to complete this programme is 18 months.
Once you have completed your Level 2 Foundation Apprenticeship, you could progress onto the Level 3 Apprenticeship to advance and improve your professional skills.
Level 3 Apprenticeship
The mandatory units for the Level 3 Apprenticeship course are:
- Provide client consultation
- Creatively style and dress hair
- creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques
- creatively colour and lighten hair to provide client consultation services.
In addition to the mandatory units, you can choose from a large range of optional units which vary from hair colour correction services to creating a variety of permed effects.
The Level 3 apprenticeship will take about 18-24 months to complete, just like the level 2 apprenticeship.
Our course will allow to develop your study skills so you can reach your full potential thus progressing onto further learning or into employment. These qualifications could lead to opportunities such as working in salons, leisure centres, cruise ships, TV, stage or film, spas, hotels or even running your own business.
During your time at HCT, you will have the opportunity to enter competitions such as Salon Cymru, Urdd, Skills Wales and UK Skills to build on the successes of our former learners.
