Vehicle Maintenance and Repair

Our training courses are ideal for those who are new to the Motor Industry, or for those experienced employees who may not have completed formal training but who would like to complete nationally recognised qualifications to enable them to progress in their chosen role.

Content

Level 2 Apprenticeship

The Level 2 Apprentischip will be suitable for you if you have already developed a good foundation of skills and knowledge required to become a vehicle service technician and are prepared to advance. 

The content of courses includes routine vehicle maintenance, engine units and components, chassis units, how to diagnose and rectify vehicle engine systems and exhaust system units.  Units can be tailored to suit individual requirements. 

We will tailor your learning programme to suit your needs, so that everyone's experience is unique. While needs differ, the recommended time to complete this programme is 22 months. 

As well as the mandatory units your training advisor will work with you and your employer to select optional units relevant to your role.

Once you have completed your Level 2 Foundation Apprenticeship, you could progress onto the Level 3 Apprenticeship to advance and improve your professional skills. 

Level 3 Apprenticeship 

If you have a lot of technical knowledge and abilities and want to take on greater responsibility by managing other, or becoming a diagnostic technician level, Level 3 is right for you.  You will have a solid track record of safety, fixing mistakes and making sure the task reaches the necessary standard while working with little supervision.

The Level 3 Apprenticeship course includes rectifying engine lights, chassis faults, combustion engine faults, auxiliary electrical faults and carrying out non-high voltage operations on, near or with electric vehicles.

In addition to the mandatory units, your training adviser will work with you and your employer to select optional units relevant to your job.

After completing the Level 3 Apprenticeship, you will be a competent diagnostic technician with all modern vehicle components. 

The Level 3 Apprenticeship should take you 18 months to complete.
