We offer plumbing courses for people wishing to gain basic knowledge for their own benefit, those wishing to enter the plumbing industry and for qualified plumbers to gain further plumbing qualifications.

The courses aim to provide learners with the practical skills, knowledge and experience which they need to be effective in the Plumbing Industry.

Level 1 Plumbing Traineeship - City & Guilds 7202

This qualification is for those waiting to enter the Plumbing industry.  It gives you the opportunity to pick up some core skills and knowledge and gives you the opportunity to progress onto either our Level 2 & 3 Plumbing or Electrical Installation qualifications.

These qualifications are aimed at learners who want to learn the basic skills and knowledge of Plumbing Installation.

1 day a week at HCT, 4 days a week with an employer. HCT only runs the plumbing pathway for this qualification.

One practical portfolio to complete at HCT. No on-site observations required.

Level 2 & 3 Plumbing Apprenticeship 6189-11/31

City & Guilds domestic heating and plumbing courses cover the essential knowledge and skills needed for a successful career in domestic plumbing and heating. Areas of study include:

  • Domestic hot and cold water systems
  • Central heating systems
  • Sanitation systems
  • Environmental technologies
  • Oil Installations (level 3)

The NVQ Level 2 plumbing and heating qualification is designed for anyone who wants to become a plumber or domestic heating engineer. It provides all the basic domestic heating and plumbing training you need to start work in the industry. 

The NVQ Level 3 plumbing and heating qualification is aimed at anyone who has already completed the Level 2 qualification, or who already has some relevant experience and knowledge. If you choose gas-related units at Level 3 you will achieve the Gas Safe licence to practise on successful completion of the course.

1 day a week at HCT, 4 days a week with an employer. There are two portfolios to complete. One practical task book to complete at HCT, 1 NVQ portfolio on-site.

All apprentices must work with a fully qualified plumber in order to gain this qualification.
